Welcome to The Round Table, the newest and greatest blog carnival on the net. Well, at least the newest. We’re still trying to work out the kinks. Without further ado, the blogs of the past month (just to get it started, they’ll soon be the best of the week):
Will Work for Tips has a great post up about the various people in the world who don’t tip. Trust me, the list is much longer, but that one covers some of the main people. Teachers who don’t tip because of their bad income, and Hyphenated Americans. Check it out, it’s a great read.
Sometimes, servers get tired, and when we get tired, we get really cranky. Manuel over at Well Done Filet tells us just how cranky we can be, especially when people tell us how to do our jobs. Sometimes it’s just not the best thing a person can do. He shows that people don’t believe we’re allowed a little fatigue every now and again.
Sometimes people abuse the kids menu. Most restaurants don’t allow people over 10-12 years old to order from it, because it’s made specifically for kids. Adults who want a lunch sized portion, anorexia patients, and whiny girls who want to stay skinny and play with crayons. Well one restaurant is taking a stand, and Don’t Tip the Waiter is telling us all about it.
As much as we would like to convince ourselves otherwise, servers can slip up with the things we say. Tony Dine over at Dine in and Take out gives a couple of examples of speaking without thinking/paying attention.
El Vermino Boulevard tells everyone just how stupid people can be when it comes to their drinks. Whether they think they know the recipe for a grasshopper or how to make a margarita, they’re almost always wrong. Do we get any thanks for finding out?
Newbies are always scared, usually clueless, and very over confident. “At least call me ‘Miss’” is helping the newbies out, and you should too. They’re going to be the ones helping you out one day, so make sure they know how to do it right.
Camping drunks don’t always make for good tips, no matter how nice you are. Sometimes they’re just plain worthless. 1/2 server, 1/2 Amazing didn’t catch a break, and we don’t either most of the time.
And finally, here at RagingServer, I know I’m conceited. I’ve been doing this a long time, and I feel that I have some hints to help people out. They sure make me some cash, so take them and use them. Most are common sense, but most also don’t get done. Hints to make your life easier, and your pocket fatter.
Stay tuned throughout the week, and you’ll find out the host for next weeks edition of “The Round Table.”
