I am a mean and uncaring thief….

stupid people Add comments

I just thought those of you who didn’t know…well…should.

Here’s the deal.  Every now and then, I round up or down on peoples change.  I do not carry a cash register, and on a busy night, the bar is not going to stop what they’re doing so I can get 8 cents.  Or 23 cents, or even 31 cents.  More often than not, I’m rounding up on change.

Springs:  It’s not the restaurants money I’m giving out until the end of the night when I do my cash out.  Then, I turn in an amount that is listed on a financial report, tip out a percentage, and keep the rest.  If I happen to lose a buck or two out of the usually pretty good money I make from giving a bit of extra, then so be it.  I haven’t had anyone bitch about not getting their change.  If it’s 50 cents or so, I might ask around if someone has a quarter or two.  Most of the time that I shortchange people, I make sure to let them know “Hey guys, I haven’t got the 18 cents, but I can get it if you want me to.”  I never just shortchange them and not let them know.   People are not all anal like you are, most people don’t even care.  As long as you let them know that you’re short a quarter, they don’t fucking care.

It’s time for you to drop this shit, honey, because it’s tired.  You repeat the same thing over and over and over again, just like you did the first time you came here, and plain and simple, people are tired of reading it.  Leave it alone.  I haven’t shortchanged you, so stop whining.  Stop trying to be a martyr for every restaurant guest there ever was or will be.  Stay at home if you have such bad times, and learn that you keeping that extra 10 bucks that was given you by accident during a busy shift is just that, an accident.  It’s not a gift, and yes, it is ****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************DISHONEST************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** to not return that 10 bucks.

Get off the cross honey, other people need the wood.

I guess I’m a total bitch, because I don’t tell them that I rounded…I figure if they want their change, they’ll ask. I never short-change more than twenty cents or so, and, like you, I will ask around for a quarter if need be. Usually, it’s in the guests favor, and usually, because it is in their favor, they’ll leave it in the tip…it works out for all of us, in the end.

What a thief you are!! Damn. You’re such a thief that maybe you didn’t deserve that $20 you got off of me & Raging Friend. Oh wait. You’re a damn good server & you did deserve it! Guess I was thinking too much like Springs. If that happens again, remind me to kill myself.

    4. Ribeye of your Dreams Says:

Mary » Raging Lezbadagga, not Raging Friend. Raging Lezbadagga

    5. yoyo Says:

Springs is a cunt and is doing this intentionally to *TRY* and spite you. It’s also her only pitifull way of getting attention. Must be hard to get any affection when she’s a bitch and going though the *change*.

I dont think there’s anything wrong with rounding up the change. If people are well off enough to be dining out, they’re probably not counting the pennies!

    6. Dr. Mo Says:

Hmmm… you know, part of me feels a smattering of empathy towards “She Who Must Not Be Named”. Certain words seem to be keys (”stupid”, “lazy”, “steal”). Anybody that has worked in the industry knows that “lazy” is not possible; “stupid” the way she uses it translates to “forgetful” because you have 100 things going at once. It’s a human condition to forget at times.

Methinks somebody called this lady down in her youth; demeaned her for simply being human and making mistakes as we all do. I think she’s heard “stupid”, “lazy” too many times directed at her and she started to believe it. This, in turn, has made her into a raging OCD case with paranoia tossed in causing her to scream words at others that she’s heard too many times directed at herself.

    7. servingcansuck Says:

I do the opposite - I round up in the customer’s favor. I once worked in a place where our policy was to round to the nearest nickel - up if it was over 3c, down if it was under. On a busy lunch shift I was stopped by a man who was furious that I had “shorted” him 2 cents! I explained our policy but he wouldn’t give up. I gave him a nickel back and told him that now he owed me 3 cents. He was so angry that he slammed 3 pennies on the bar after I walked away and stormed out. You never know which customer you will piss off so I figure that it’s worth giving them a little extra change to avoid something like this ever happening again.

    8. Shikoku88Henro Says:

Just ignore the idiot that is Springs. Do not give her any more spots in your posts and just everyone ignore the fool.

Springs is a hypocrite like everyone else when it comes to stealing. You ever eat a grape at the store before you pay? That’s technically stealing. Ever share a plate at a diner that has a no sharing policy? That’s stealing. Ever take a jelly bean out of the barrel at a candy store and eat it? That’s stealing.

A few pennies here and there sure is technically stealing but if we all had to wait for idiots like Springs to get their 13 cents, shit would never get done.

GOODBYE SPRINGS, WE ARE DONE WITH YOU.

    9. Dobby Says:

This has probably been said before, but Springs1 seems to go out to eat for the *sole purpose* of finding something that offends her tender sensibilities. I imagine that in person she doesn’t keep her lunatic tendencies too hidden and the servers treat her with the (correct!) assumption that they are going to get run around like crazy and then stiffed on the tip.

    10. Wry Exchange Says:

I never even bother to count the coins in my change, only the bills. That 37 cents just doesn’t matter to me. Sorry, Springs1.

I left the country for a month, and Springs1 was gone from here when I returned. How did you get her to go away the first time? Voodoo?

    11. Mary Says:

She liked Raging Friend!! But that works I guess. She just wanted to be referred to as Raging something.

    12. ServER Not ServANT Says:

Raving lunatic? Oh wait you said Raging…. hmmmmmm

    13. Mary Says:

HAHAHA!! I’m Raging Sister. That’s awesome.

    14. Joy Says:

I would love to know what Springs does for a living that she can afford to eat out 7 nights a week and order $12 of extra ranch every time. But she probably can’t really afford it and that is why she is so upset about the 2 pennies.

And who has time to write out all of those long diatribes over change that isn’t even enough to buy you a cup of coffee?? My time is way more valuable to me than that 20 cents and I am betting the waiters time is to.

    15. Springs1 Says:

      Ribeye
“Most of the time that I shortchange people, I make sure to let them know “Hey guys, I haven’t got the 18 cents, but I can get it if you want me to.” I never just shortchange them and not let them know.”

That was the ENTIRE POINT of WHY I was pissed at the waiter, because he DIDN’T LET ME KNOW. All he did was hand the $5 bill on the tray to us and walk off as if nothing was missing.

I honestly wouldn’t say it the way you say to say that, because that sounds like you aren’t WILLING to get it. I would say something like this: “I would have to get the change from the bar, which would take some time, because we don’t have access to coins, so do you have time to wait or would you rather me not worry about it?” See, this way, you aren’t sounding like you aren’t willing to do it, because when you say you don’t have it, MOST people such as myself NEVER KNEW until maybe a couple of years at the most, that servers didn’t have coin change access. I always thought back then that they had a register, which meant they had a WAY to get ALL change. So what I am saying is, I am GLAD you LET YOUR CUSTOMERS KNOW. I honestly thought you would just take the money and run per say just because you didn’t feel like getting it. Also, it sounds like you DO have THEIR PERMISSION from what you are saying, so since you do, then it’s not stealing. What the waiter did to me and my husband WAS STEALING, because he just dropped off the $5 bill with no coin change and NEVER SAID ANYTHING about it. Then when I went up to him to tell him(I followed him around the kitchen, that’s how PISSED I was), he DIDN’T even drop what he was doing to do it as if he did nothing wrong as well as didn’t apologize at that time when I told him, which he should have IMMEDIATELY APOLOGIZED. Anyway, when he brought it, then he only said “sorry about that.” He should have said “SO SORRY” for being lazy not to get my coin change or at least OFFER to get it for us. The fact is, when a mistake happens, it should take TOP PRIORITY OVER EVERYTHING, because my change was BEFORE whatever he was doing, which he messed up, so he should have fixed it RIGHT AWAY. I thought that was MEAN that he didn’t apologize RIGHT AWAY.

Anyway, if he would have just told us he had to go to the bar to get coin change, I would have been FINE with telling him “OK”, so then he would have gone to get it, but he was TOO LAZY TO MAKE THAT OFFER. It WASN’T busy, so I REALLY DON’T GET that?

“but I can get it if you want me to.”

This part makes you sound lazy to say that. Tell them that you don’t have access to coin change, but it wold take a while to get it from the bar. That way it wouldn’t sound like you aren’t willing to do it for them. If I were to hear a server say that to me, I would say “Well OF COURSE, WHY WOULDN’T WE WANT OUR FULL AMOUNT OF CHANGE?” Then I would leave a crappy tip, because of the lazy attitude. It would be better to OFFER it in a BETTER way than to say “if you want me to”, which sounds like you really don’t want to. That makes the server look lazy.

I didn’t know you let the customer know, so SORRY for calling you a thief since you apparantly had their PERMISSION to take their money. ONLY if you didn’t have their permission would you be stealing. WHY didn’t you just SAY that you DID have their PERMISSION?

    16. Springs1 Says:

      Darby
“guess I’m a total bitch, because I don’t tell them that I rounded…I figure if they want their change, they’ll ask.”

Do you have to ask for your coin change at grocery stores, Wal-Mart, Movie theatres, fast food restaurants, etc.? If you don’t, WHY would ANYONE have to “ASK” WHAT IS LAWFULLY THEIRS? If it’s NOT “YOUR” MONEY, so that means YOU DON’T *OWN* IT YET, IT’S NOT YOURS TO KEEP.

It should be a given that customers ALWAYS want their change unless they TELL YOU they don’t. You should NEVER SHORT CHANGE ANYONE UNLESS YOU ASK THEIR PERMISSION TO DO SO.

So if I pay a check that’s $29.98 with (2) $20 bills, you will only return a $10 bill? You would truly owe me $10.02. Would you grab a nickle of your OWN money or the RESTAURANT’S MONEY to give me if you gave me over the amount? If you give it from the restaurant’s money, then unless you have permission from your manager, you are stealing from the restaurant.

    17. Tired of Springs Says:

Springs, what part of “fuck off” and “shut the fuck up” don’t you get? The website owner has given you a standard of behavior to adhere to - it’s his place, and his rules.

Oh, and Shut. The fuck. Up.

    18. ServER not ServANT Says:

So if someone shorts Springs 2 cents they are a thief or if they give her 3 cents too much they are stealing from their employer. Yet it’s ok for her to keep the $10.00 too much in change she received? Hypocrite!

      Oh and yeah STFU.

    19. SproingzWon Says:

Please feel sorry for me. My life is so boring and meaningless that I have nothing better to do than pick fights on someone else’s blog, and it doesn’t matter if I’ve been told to observe standards of behaviour. Only MY opinion matters, don’t you get it?
So everyone who doesn’t agree with me, you should change your minds and make my life worthwhile. SO what if I’m disruptive, immature and myopic? So what if I complain that every tiny little thing I don’t like is being dismissed?
Feel sorry for me, and don’t argue.

“Springs, what part of “fuck off” and “shut the fuck up” don’t you get?”

The *******TRUTH******** HURTS, DOESN’T IT? You seem to be LAZY and UNCARING, otherwise, you’d AGREE WITH EVERY SINGLE THING AM WRITING ABOUT. I just TELL IT LIKE IT IS and YOU KNOW IT!

    21. Springs1 Says:

      ServER Not ServANT
“Yet it’s ok for her to keep the $10.00 too much in change she received? Hypocrite!”

NO, because when the server or cashier gives you *YOUR* change, that’s *YOUR* change REGARDLESS of if it’s MORE than what you are supposed to get back.

So, NO, I am NOT a “hypocrite!”

    22. Maureen Says:

That’s not how it works, dear. It’s called being a “thief”.

    23. Pamela Says:

no you’re a thief. You keep something you know you shouln’t have been given. YOU’RE STEALING FROM THE SERVER, another human being who deserves at least (or in your case more) consideration as everyone else. Asshat Twit.

    24. ServER not ServANT Says:

You are a thief. NO ifs, ands or buts.

    25. Springs1 Says:

      Pamela
“no you’re a thief. You keep something you know you shouln’t have been given. YOU’RE STEALING FROM THE SERVER, another human being who deserves at least (or in your case more) consideration as everyone else. Asshat Twit.”

NO, the SERVER is stealing from the RESTAURANT. It’s actually the *RESTAURANT’S MONEY*, NOT AT ALL THE SERVER’S MONEY. Don’t you get that? The server’s money is their TIP, NOT if you either get undercharged or get too much change back. The undercharge has to do with the RESTAURANT’S MONEY. Giving too much change back is still from the REGISTER’S MONEY, which is the RESTAURANT’S MONEY. SO YOU ARE VERY WRONG, because I am NOT STEALING THE SERVER’S MONEY. THE SERVER IS STEALING THE RESTAURANT’S MONEY. It’s like DUH, you CAN’T FIGURE THAT OUT?

      ServER not ServANT
“You are a thief. NO ifs, ands or buts.”

NOPE, that’s the SERVER STEALING FROM THE RESTAURANT’S MONEY. You cannot SEE THAT?

    26. PricklyPete Says:

      Springs1,

Let’s assume that you are correct and that if a server gives you $10 too much change that they are stealing the restaurant’s money. Since you are aware that they have “stolen” money and you accept it, you are complicit in the theft of the money.

No, you didn’t ask the server to steal for you, but as you point out in excruciating detail, you believe they stole from the restaurant. If you really believe this, you are a thief. You have accepted “stolen” money.

Why not just be a normal person and say Hey, you gave me too much change, and then return the money?

    27. Pamela Says:

Iknow, unlike you you twit, that many servers are required to make their own change out of their own funds (it’s called their bank)..The money they use for change IS THEIR OWN MONEY. Therefore YOU you thoughtless jerk are stealing from the server by not returning mistakes in change. God I swear the slavering animals that raised you either had no sense or you’re totally incapable of learning anything (don’t bother to quote educational qualifications, they mean nothing in this context).

    28. daalny Says:

      Don’t feed the troll

    29. ServER not ServANT Says:

God you are an idiot and a thief.

    30. Springs1 Says:

      PricklyPete
“If you really believe this, you are a thief. You have accepted “stolen” money.”

NO, because it was “WILLFULLY” GIVEN TO ME all because the SERVER DECIDED UPON THEMSELF NOT TO DOUBLE CHECK WHAT THEY WERE HANDING ME. It’s “INTENTIONAL” to decide not to DOUBLE CHECK what they hand me. Therefore, it’s “INTENTIONAL” they are giving me that extra money, which is a “GIFT.”

I am NOT “ACCEPTING” STOLEN MONEY, because it is “GIVEN” TO ME WILLFULLY. The person giving it to me is at fault for giving it to me in the first place.

“Why not just be a normal person and say Hey, you gave me too much change, and then return the money?”

NORMAL people DON’T tell their cashier or server they gave them too much. MOST people KEEP the overage or possibly DON’T EVEN NOTICE IT. That shows just how much you KNOW.

      Pamela
“Therefore YOU you thoughtless jerk are stealing from the server by not returning mistakes in change.”

If it’s “THEIR OWN MONEY”, then the server is STEALING FROM THEIR OWN SELF. The customer is NOT stealing if it’s NOT “INTENTIONALLY” TAKEN FROM THE SERVER. Not telling the server about an overage of change given to the customer is NOT “INTENTIONALLY” TAKING IT, because it’s *WILLFULLY* GIVEN BY THE SERVER by not double checking the change being given. A person that “WILLFULLY” gives something is called a person that is giving a “GIFT.” I am receiving a “GIFT” WILLFULLY. If that server is too STUPID and LAZY not to DOUBLE CHECK what they hand me, then that is THEIR PROBLEM they are giving me a gift. It’s THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to know what they are handing me, NOT MINE.

“that many servers are required to make their own change out of their own funds (it’s called their bank)..”

WHY would servers work to basically give back money to customers that is rightfully THEIRS? That sounds like the RESTAURANT OWNERS and MANAGERS are making servers take their OWN MONEY for the restaurant, which is the owners & managers STEALING from the wait staff. If I am owed $2.25 in change, WHY should my server PAY that quarter out of their own money, when it’s really the RESTAURANT that OWES that 25 cents?

      SerVER not ServANT
“God you are an idiot and a thief.”

NO, YOU ARE AN IDIOT. I AM NOT A THIEF!

    31. Pamela Says:

      Springs
Are you at all capable of taking responsibility for anything you do? Or are you one of those sad, entitlement junkies who never think they’re wrong?
      HMMMMMMMI think I know.

    32. Mary Says:

You are a thief & a HYPOCRITE!!! GO AWAY!!! Is that to difficult for your small mind to understand? You make ******************NO**************** sense & are quite frankly nothing more than a gnat that just won’t die.

    33. Food Service Ninja Says:

hey springs if i paypal your freaking 2 cents you were ripped off o -will you STFU already?

      Im paypal verified.

PS your a “good tipper” but worked up over 2 cents
maybe you should check out that video for IFH Mondays restaurant chain -the bartender has a fruity drink just for you!!

    34. Art Vandelay Says:

OMG I think I used to WORK with Spring!!! At the company Christmas party, she did a private pole dance using our boss for the pole, in the bathroom, and got totally busted by his wife!
Surprise, transferred to another section of the company. Super-duper-uber b!tch. Can’t cook at all, that’s why she eats out so much. Only thing in her fridge is her stash.

    35. Tails Says:

Um, so if someone steals $100,000,000 from the bank and ‘gives it to you’, Spring1, does that give you the right to keep it? Because the crook “willingly gave it to you”. No, you’re an accomplice in the “thieving”, End of story.

And seriously, why are you ragging on Raging Server/Ribeye for stuff that happens to you with other servers in other restaurants? I wasnt aware Ribeye was God and could control the actions of every server in America?? Eish!
