Apologies for the Unexpected Blackout

bad decisions, stupid people Add comments

Ribeye here, everybody, just stopped by real quick to explain what happened the past few hours.

Apparantly, the company through which I have the server space that hosts ragingserver decided that 8pm Pacific (that’s what, 4 or 5 central?) decided that without any form of notice to the users whose sites would be affected, to reboot our servers.

And here I thought web-hosting companies kept both contact numbers and e-mail addresses on file for situations just like this.  Too bad their IT staff didn’t even think to warn anyone about it, now when my time at Dreamhost is up in January, I’ll likely be moving to another hosting company – preferably one who cares enough about it’s customers to shoot them an e-mail, a text message, a tweet or a phone call to let them know their damned site will be down for the gods only know how long!

Keeping the customer happy is part of customer service… perhaps they’ll learn.
