The Forgotten Works of RagingServer

Fun times, Opening, catching up, future 5 Comments »

Back in the beginning of RagingServer.com, I did a lot of advertising, and a LOT of posting.  For three months before RagingServer, I blogged from the now defunct myserverblog.com.  Some of the posts from that time have never been read by any of you, even with the archives links posted.  These are some really underestimated works, some of which I’m not too proud of but some of which I love.  These are all the pre-September works, but here are a few links to my personal favorites that I would love you to check out:

How much is Sweet Tea?” from June of ‘07, a mix of cheerleaders in high school, a nice couple, and a woman who didn’t want to pay for tea.

The To-Go Cup” from June of ‘07, chronicling my experience with a bitch demanding a non-existent to-go cup from us.

Do we get free refill on whie ziffadel?” from June of ‘07, this one is pretty self explanatory.

Where’s your cheap meal menu?” from July of ‘07, about an old, ‘Hovaround’ driving man with a police scanner.

People think they can get away with anything” from August of ‘07, my first post about the infamous Hawk (aka Igganunt and one of the various Mr. S’ that I’ve talked about) and his infamous laziness.  Hawk is unfortunately still with us and pissing everyone off.  Those of you who have paid attention in class will notice the similarities between the three names and have put it all together accordingly.

Then we have any and everything from September of ‘07, the first month of the existence of RagingServer.com.  This is the time of my bloglife that I learned about Springs1 and her 47 sites and 400 rules of service.  This is the month I learned just how much fun blogging could really be, and when I made my rise to fame.

I’d like to thank you all for your continued support of RagingServer.com, and to ask you all to keep reading.  Summer is about to get into full swing, so another summer of Hell is about to begin!

Another Coming Soon

future 5 Comments »

Well, with the new year coming, there’s also some new ideas in the works here at RagingServer.com.

The Horror Story submission page, and Horror Story section that I’ve talked about before is up, as the RagingPartner has just finished it. These stories will be credited to the person who wrote them. I won’t necessarily post your e-mail if you don’t want me to, but I will if you don’t tell me not to.

Also, I’m considering guest posters. This is one I’ve been thinking of for a while now, but I’m not sure exactly how I’ll work it out. If you have suggestions on this topic, let me know.

RoundTable, as always, is going to be moving along further, and if you want to be included in the future, give us post submissions for it.

The RagingPartner has also found a new place for the t-shirts, not sure if it’s going to have other products there too, but I haven’t got that set up yet.

I think that’s it for now….

Let’s all pray for the Raging T-Bird….she’s not doing so well as you all know….

And let’s all go vote for me at the BlogTopList, the link is on the sidebar….and here’s a couple more.

Party Season has arrived!

Hell, bitchery, future 6 Comments »

This means the Ribeye will be working much overtime, dealing with more stupid people, and coming home bitchier than ever.

Parties at my job are great money, except for the fact that you don’t get your gratuity the same day. Each party you’ll get upwards of a hundred or more dollars of your own, but you don’t get the money until the next paycheck. This means that the private party that I worked this past Saturday night, the one I worked last night and the one that I’m going in to work this morning, will not be on my paycheck until next Thursday. This can cause a lot of added stress to people who already are broke or behind on their shopping.

It also really sucks when the party in question doesn’t leave you anything over the gratuity, after you’ve gone above and beyond taking care of the bastards. The party I worked last night was open bar, and started out in the dining room. When they moved to the game room, I had to run to the dining room every time I wanted to get them a drink, then run back to the game room to deliver said drink. It would have been easier had the Micros system been on my side, but we couldn’t transfer the ticket to the game room. I tell the guests that I need to go to the dining room to get their drinks, thinking maybe they’ll take pity on me and give me some extra money while seeing me run for everything. Nothing. 40 dollar grat for 3 hours of running my ass off. They weren’t Canadians, they weren’t hicks, they weren’t trash. Well, I guess they were trash.

Sometimes you can’t judge these parties though. A few weeks ago I had a really ghetto party. This wasn’t the TSU Homecoming party, which had the spit on Ribeye theme toward the end, this was a really good party. I got 75 bucks extra grat on that one.  Don’t know how I pulled that one off.  They were pretty drunk when they left.

Most of the time I really fucking hate working parties.  I hate having to wait for the paycheck to get my cash.  I work hard on those damn things, setting up and breaking down buffet tables, decorating, dealing with naggy people….but during this season, the money is pretty good most of the time.  However, my dept. leader, who also works the party planning, tends to put himself on the most parties, and we get the shitty ones.  We get the ones that don’t get good gratuities but are the most annoying.  That’ll change soon though…that’ll change soon..

I’ll put up a longer post later, but right now I’m going to take a nap.  I’m exhausted.

Coming up on my 150th post.

future, great people 5 Comments »

No, this one is nothing bad.  I wanted to thank you all, the readers and the commenters for making my blog a success.  When I started this blog out, I figured I’d get a few readers, a few people who enjoyed it and came back.  I didn’t expect the storm that would follow.  I get hundreds of e-mails a week about this site, giving suggestions, giving hatred, or just giving good fun.

I also wanted to thank you guys for the following things:  Thanks to you, I have reached a high total of hits.  Total hits to date:  1042230…that’s in 3 months.  Also, I’ve had over 45000 visits, 18000 total visitors, almost 200000 pages viewed.

I’m at post 145, well this makes 146, and my total comments are at  1189.  Thank you all for your support, I never thought I’d make it this far.

Coming soon to RagingServer.com and other blogs (if I have my way)

Fun times, future 10 Comments »

Working with Manuel from WellDoneFilet, I’m trying to come up with a “Blog Carnival”, suited for we the restaurant industry bloggers of the blogosphere.  Let’s see how many more times I can say blog in this one post.

This will be coming in the next few weeks, after I do a little research on how to make it happen.  I plan to contact NurseRatched, who frequently hosts Change of Shift in the Nursing Blogosphere, or perhaps MexicoMedicalStudent, who frequently hosts GrandRounds in the Doctor Blogosphere.  I’ve never done one of these, or participated in one, so it’s going to be a new experience.

Restaurant Bloggers, if you are interested in participating in this, getting your visits/hits up, and having a bit of fun with your site every week, then contact me or Manuel, or feel free to leave a comment on this post or any other on my site.  As long as you put your e-mail address in the comment field where it asks, the only person that will see it will be me.  I really want to get this together, I think it would be a really fun thing to do, and will get us all some more traffic.

MediBloggers, if you have ANY advice pertaining to said blog carnivals, how to start them, how to get people involved, how to keep them running and how to synchronize, PLEASE let me know, either through my e-mail address on the contact page or through a comment here.

Even after we get this started, it might take some time to get it right, but I still think it’ll be a good thing for us.  Restaurant bloggers aren’t nearly as well represented on the web as medical bloggers are.  We have a huge quantity, as referenced by the links in my “Dinner Directory” area on the sidebar, but we aren’t a cohesive force like the Medical Bloggers.  Let’s become that cohesive force.
